Panelists will be asked to describe the elements that make a game a "success" as it moves from publication to marketing and on to retail sale. Come hear discussion about what it takes to get your game to the presses, on the store shelves and out the door in the arms of a happy customer. Insights offered by panelists promise to be so helpful they will make potential designers want to weep. Time for questions from the audience will be provided.
Meet & Pitch with Jay Tummelson, President, Rio Grande Games
Sat: 3 pm - 6 pm
Designers are invited to sign up for an individual, twenty-minute session where they will have the opportunity to pitch a game to Jay Tummelson, the founder of Rio Grande Games. Tummelson will offer personalized feedback to designers about their individual pitches and/or game designs during these face-to-face sessions. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insight into the commercial viability of your game design from one of the most successful publishers in the gaming industry. (Due to the limited availability of appointments, participants must sign up for a specific "Meet-And-Pitch" time slot before the start of the session. Designers are asked to arrive at least fifteen minutes before their designated appointment time. Appointments may be made by contacting Travis Ball.)

Protospiel West Overview

Ever wanted to be involved in developing upcoming new games? Are you a local designer who is interested in getting your game tested?

Participate in Protospiel West - an organized event where playtesters and designers come together and take part in the development process by giving important feedback and ideas to the game designer.

A game designer may submit his game to be playtested to Travis Ball. If your game is playtested, you will also need to sit on a session for someone else's game.

Each session will last 3 hours and is broken up as follows:
30 minutes to assign players to games and have the designer explain the rules
90 minutes to play the game
10 minutes to fill out player questionnaires
55 minutes of Q&A

You must purchase a convention badge to take part in Protospiel West.
